Melissa Grant, one of my ActiveRain friends from Tennessee, has been wonderfully supportive of my efforts to raise money for my good friend David Wilder who is battling cancer. She selflessly sold her own points, made friendship pins, and wrote multiple posts on this topic, including one Week in Review.
Additionally, she has founded several terrific groups on AR, including Blast from the Past!, Hidden Gems in the Rain, and the Angel Network. Following some of my recent conversations with Melissa, she has frankly become one of my favorite people in this community. She is someone who genuinely cares for others.
I would like to publicly thank her, and I would also like to ask for your prayer for Melissa and her family as they have been faced with a number of recent trials, two of which occurred this past week, and one of which is absolutely tragic.
Back in December, Melissa lost part of her home in a fire, and her family was forced to spend Christmas in a nearby hotel. Many AR members stepped up to provide support, both emotional and financial, during that troubling time.
One week ago, Melissa's six-year old son was helping his dad in their rebuilding efforts, and he fell and broke his wrist. They spent the whole day in the emergency room, and they were scheduled to have an appointment with an orthopedic specialist yesterday, although I haven't yet heard the results of that visit.
Last Saturday, Melissa's young cousin, who lives in New York, gave birth to twins who only lived a few minutes. I happened to speak with Melissa mere hours after she had received this news, and she was highly distraught. Her cousin was "like a sister" to her, and she was feeling guilty that she wouldn't be able to attend the burial.
Melissa sent an email to our mutual friend, Julie Neerings, requesting prayer for her cousin, aunt and uncle. Obviously, I would ask that you pray for Melissa as well.
The funeral was scheduled for yesterday. Melissa indicated that her cousin had been heavily sedated, and that she was very scared for her as she was burying her babies.
The babies' names are Madison Alexa And Angelina Lynn Pomilla.
During my time here on ActiveRain, I have witnessed many selfless acts of kindness, not just for me, but for many others. I hope that this is no different. Please pray for all of the people involved here, and please take a minute to write to Melissa if you can, either in the comments below, or via email to email@example.com. I really want to cover them in prayer as much as possible, so feel free to link to this post or to write your own in order to spread the word a bit more.
