I realized that I hadn’t written a real, old-fashioned milestone post in awhile, and I thought that watching the odometer cross the 30,000 mark for comments was as good as any other, since it is indicative of the relationships that I have developed here, as well as the value that I hope I’ve added during my 17-month stint on ActiveRain.
Here’s my current “box score”, if you are interested:
As you can see from the large disparity between “Comments Received” and “Comments Left”, I haven’t had time to keep up with my comments by responding to every one left on my blog, much less reciprocating to others. I made a decision awhile back that I would rather continue to contribute here by way of posting more often than by trying to keep up with comments.
If you do leave a comment on one of my posts, I can assure you that I read EVERY one of them, even if I don’t respond. I do try to respond to direct questions, sometimes via email.
I was tempted to try to figure out my favorite comment ever, but that’s like the proverbial needle in a haystack, considering how many high-quality and funny comments I’ve received. Instead, I will share with you the very first comment that I EVER received here on ActiveRain, which came on August 5th, 2007. It was from my second post: Extra mortgage payments – best method?:
I am going to keep an eye on this post it has me curious too, I am going to ask around. Thank you for the post.

Thanks to Lorinda for being the first person here to acknowledge that I wasn’t writing to myself. Jeff Belonger also commented on that one, with a solid answer, as it turns out. No surprise there, since he is a loan genius.
My most commented post (and currently the most commented post ever on ActiveRain, with 3,060 comments as of this writing) is this one: How to Get Over 100 Comments on Your Blog Posts – A Retrospective.
Incidentally, the very first comment that I left for someone else was both profound and ingenious. Rather than ruining the greatness here, I’ll let you click to see it yourself: 08/05/2007 12:30 AM.
