New Pflugerville Road Construction Promises Easier Access

In the upcoming months, two separate but related road construction projects will bring better access to the southern part of Pflugerville.

The first phase involves connecting Heatherwilde Boulevard to Howard Lane (south of Wells Branch).  Additionally, Wells Branch will be extended and connect through to the section attached to Dessau Road.  This phase is set to be completed in April.

The second phase entails widening Wells Branch Parkway from I-35 to Heatherwilde.  It will be a four-lane road.  The project was bid in January and the construction should begin later this year.

As a longtime resident of Pflugerville (almost 14 years now), I have been very pleased with many of the road projects locally, not to mention the toll road system, which has dramatically improved access to shopping, restaurants and even my own office.

According to the Pflugerville Community Impact newspaper, one of the city engineers thinks that the new road projects will increase the desirability of commercial projects both along Wells Branch Parkway and Dessau Road, within Pflugerville’s jurisdiction.

The $10.8 million pricetag came from a variety of sources – bond money from Travis County, and a public-private partnership in which three landowners donated the right-of-way, necessary easements, and cash.
