I wanted to help my good friend Michael Scher of Scher Professional Inspections by writing a few positive words about his service here. Having known Michael since 1995, I guess you could say that we have watched each other grow up. I was 24 years old when we met, and neither of us had kids back then. We were in the same small group at church (where Michael later became an elder). Now, we have ELEVEN kids between us, although 7 of them are his and 4 are mine. 🙂
Michael has conducted a good number of inspections for me and for the agents that work for me over the past several years. He is a man of very high integrity and he’s very thorough and knowledgable. I have often said that I would prefer to catch all of the needed repairs during the inspection, rather than just have the deal work out and then have my clients discover problems later. Sadly, not everyone works this way, because I have seen evidence to the contrary over the years.
Michael is a very involved father, and he sometimes brings one of his older kids along when he is working. I do the same thing with my own kids when I can. Michael and his wife homeschool their kids (as do we), so we certainly have a lot in common.
I think the best testimonial that I can give for Michael came from one of my recent buyers, who insisted on “tipping” Michael during a re-inspection that we needed to have the seller complete. Have you ever seen this happen? This was a first for me, and I have been selling homes full-time for almost 13 years now. I think my client paid an extra $50, if memory serves. He said, “I just felt like he wasn’t getting enough for the work he did for me.” WOW!
As you might well imagine for a father of seven, Michael is exceedingly patient, and he presents very well for clients. I have seen him explain systems in a very detailed manner for buyers who have LOTS of questions. I admire this trait, and I think it demonstrates a professionalism that I don’t see very often.
Lastly, Michael’s rates are very fair, and well in line with what you would expect for his services (that’s why he gets tipped!). I would describe his fees as very competitive.
If you are an Austin-area agent, I would recommend including him on your short list of “go to” inspectors. If you are looking for an inspector for a home you are purchasing in or near Austin, Texas, look no further. Michael Scher (pronounced “sheer”) can be reached at 512-773-2773 (cell).
